And Some Light Relief

After the turmoil and stress that we’ve all been feeling in recent times, I thought I’d mix up my articles a bit.

So rather than focussing on business, I’m going to share more of what I’m up to on my new personal adventure. I hope by doing this to provide some light relief and distraction.

The task I am undertaking is a little intimidating. But I am sure that my previous experience and the lessons I’ve learnt will prove handy.

The Adventure Begins

House-moving at the moment has proved to be more stressful than it otherwise should have been. See my previous post: Moving House Even More of a Nightmare Than Before.

However, I’ve made it through and am now safely ensconced on Anglesey.

I decided to rent for the time being, so I can get a good feel for the area. And I think I have most definitely landed on my feet.

The rental is a beautiful house tucked off the main thoroughfare on a country estate.

Every morning I open the curtains and look out across an estuary and hills, strewn with hundreds of fluffy white dots denoting flocks of sheep. I look out to the sea beyond, as the sun rises and paints the horizon with different coloured hues dependant on what the day’s weather is going to be.

Daily visitors

Pheasants take their daily march across the grassed area outside my patio windows. And a few are brave enough to stride up to the doors and take a look in. (I’m not sure who is watching whom!)

Rabbits come out and gambol around at dawn and dusk. Wrens hop around the patio and my outdoor furniture. And red squirrels have made an appearance, scampering around, busy at their business.

One, with a scraggy left ear (are they called ears?) put its paws up on the window and peered in. I’m sure it was sticking its tongue out at my cat who was confined indoors for the first couple of weeks. I watched another little beggar dig up one of my pot plants. He went on to discard the shrub over the side and plant his own treasures. I suppose my pots have now become their pied-à-terre.

My new morning routine

Without fail, I open my curtains every morning and smile. Breathe, smile, and take in the view with my morning cup of tea while I watch the sun come up, the dark of night greys and lightens, and dawn breaks.

It doesn’t matter if it’s awful weather outside or blowing a hooley (which seems to be quite frequent thus far), the vista is breathtaking.

Making a fresh start was worth it

Having weathered the trials, tribulations and upheaval of shifting from Oxford to here, I know I have done the right thing. Leaving my family and my support network was a wrench. And I am up here alone, with only a couple of friends within a 40-minute drive.

I’ll admit it is a bit daunting, but I feel lighter. My soul feels more at peace, and there’s a gentle fizz of excitement in my veins as I contemplate the fresh start I have in front of me.

As a leadership trainer and professional online speaker, I help individuals and businesses move forward and overcome challenges with confidence, strength, and compassion. To discover how I can assist you, check out my in-person and virtual services.
